Panjab University, on Friday, called off the examination of Public Administration of BA course Semester 5, after the question paper was allegedly circulated through WhatsApp before the start of the examination. The exam was being conducted across 192 PU affiliated colleges in Punjab and Chandigarh.
The irregularity came to light at DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh when an outsider was seen acting suspiciously in the corridor near the examination rooms. Upon suspicion, the outsider was interrogated and in turn, he admitted to trying to help a private candidate who had failed to clear the exam in previous attempts.
A mobile phone was seized by the exam superintendent from the private candidate upon further checking. He was then separated from other students and barred from attempting the paper.
The investigating team of the crime branch reached the spot. Reportedly, the college administration decided not to file a complaint and the case will be examined by the University’s UMC Committee. The exam meanwhile, has been rescheduled for December 23rd.
