Almost a year after the Blue Whale Challenge became a reason of a number of suicides among teenagers across the globe, here is another new game called ‘Momo Challenge’ which is reportedly leading children to perform dangerous challenges.
Started on Facebook, The Momo Challenge involves members who are “challenged” to communicate with an unknown number. Once the connection is established, the Momo account sends a number of activities which involve tasks that lead the children to get engaged in series of violent actions that are to be completed in order to meet ‘Momo’. And if refused to play further, Momo threatens the user with violent images.
‘Momo’ is said to be a social media account on popular platforms that make use an image of a doll having monstrous features, large eyes, and a wide mouth. The artwork is called Mother Bird by Link Factory, by the Japanese artist Midori Hayashi, who is said to have no association with the challenge.
Recently, reports of Kerela police have come up as they are looking into the details of this Momo message which was reported by a youth.
Beware! You can even stop eating those ‘momos’ now!
