On Tuesday, a residential training programme was organized in the Panjab University premises regarding Biological monitoring, quality control, and examination. On the occasion, member secretary Mr. Nautiyal said that organisms can also be used as an environmental contaminant indicator.
Mr. Nautiyal further went to say that use of such existing organisms as an indicator enhances reliability and efficacy of analytical control of ecological contaminants. In order to measure the entire toxicity in the aquatic surroundings animals, micro-organisms, animals and aquatic plants can aptly serve the purpose of indicators. Apart from this, it can also play a crucial role in river conservation and maintenance programmes.
Whereas Mr. Khaiwal, a faculty of PGIMER’S School of Public Health said in order to understand the effect of contaminants of water in a better way, the biological method should also be regarded as an alternative along with other substitutes.
