Wrestler Bajrang Punia proudly achieved India’s first gold medal in the Asian Games 2018, with an 11-8 victory over Japan’s Takatani Daichi in the men’s freestyle 65 kg final in Jakarta on Sunday. He clinched his maiden Asian Games gold, with his outstanding lead of 6-0 lead before Daichi made it 4-6 in the first period. After enduring a tough battle in the second period Bajrang emerged victoriously.
The 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team pairing of Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar brought a bronze medal to the name of India. Elsewhere, the women’s hockey team, the kabaddi teams, and swimmers gave also established a good account of themselves. It seems the Indian players and teams are determined to bring home plenty of laurels.
