Remember Varnika Kundu? The girl from Chandigarh who raised her voice against stalking.
Unless you have been living under a rock, you would have heard about the case of this brave girl from Chandigarh, who decided NOT to keep silent and raised her voice against her VIP stalkers. Varnika’s never say die attitude has won her plenty of admirers across India.
Keeping her head up, Varnika has come up with a petition that aims to make a difference to how safe women feel on roads in India. While eve teasing and rapes are serious offences, stalking is also something that can leave a lasting scar on a girl’s psyche.
In collaboration with change.org and The Quint, Varnika Kundu has started a petition to make stalking a non-bailable offence.
If enough people support the petition, Shashi Tharoor can present it as part of a private member’s bill in the Winter Session of Parliament.
The petition has already been signed by more than 1 lakh people. Join Varnika in her fight against stalking. Sign the petition here.
Varnika, you go girl!
