According to an affidavit submitted by the UT administration in the Punjab & Haryana High court, almost 64 % of the milk samples have been found to be contaminated.
In response to a PIL on the issue of adulteration in the milk, the Food Safety Department filed an affidavit stating, 942 out 1475 samples which were collected across the city, have failed in the food safety standard test.
In its statement, the department said that it has started campaigns regarding the hazards of adulterated milk and is planning to set up mobile milk testing labs.
Recently, raids were conducted by the authority on sweet shops in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula in which samples of Paneer and milk were apprehended.
